How to Create a Cooling Summer Bedroom this Season

Entry #2643, July 11, 2013

Now that the summer is in full swing have you noticed how hot it is?! Cooling off your summer bedroom doesn’t have to be just about climate control. It can also involve bringing cool summer color and summer inspiration into your bedroom.

This summer try performing a cool and seasonal makeover will help enjoying your morning sleep-ins even more during these luscious summer weekends. You can revamp your bedroom by either choosing for a major bedroom renovation or nipping a few small details.

Incorporate Relaxing Tropical Style

You can create the feel of a tropical environment just by adding some accessories and details. Frame vacation snapshots in wooden or bamboo photo frames and hang them on the wall. Place a woven beach mat hanging to the floor on the bedside table, use floral seat cover-up for the chairs, and place three or four small potted plants on a waterproof tray and place it on your windowsill.

Create a Soothing Focal Point

Create a centerpiece for your tabletop with colorful flowers or bundle of grasses or foliage. Tie the flowers or the foliage with waxed linen thread and place them in flower vases. You can use transparent glass jars to hold the flowers or plants instead of vases. In that case, you can use liquid food coloring to tint jar water in different hues.

Add Natural Materials in your Summer Furniture

Natural and lightweight materials like bamboo, wicker, and rattan will be excellent choices for summer furniture items. A bedside table, window blinds, or small wastepaper baskets made of these materials will look great in your bedroom. Complement the natural tone of the furniture by picking up a light quilt or an earthy coverlet for your bed.

Add a Nautical Tone

Summer season is a great time for outdoor activities including getting tanned in beaches. So, your bedroom will look really cool if you can add a subtle nautical touch to it.  Clear glass lamps coupled with a nautically inspired porthole mirror hung above the bed will remind you of the sound of sea waves. You can complete the décor by adding a pale-green sea-foam bedding.

Bring a Rustic Look

You can also décor your bedroom after the cottage style for this summer. Wood-paneled walls, metal-framed bed, rustic linen bedding, and wall-mounted sconces can create a perfect milieu for a fresh cottage look. To make the look more perfect, use white paint on the walls, soft and feathery sheets on the bed, and cream-colored pillowcases. This makeover will transform your bedroom into a romantic country inn.

Relaxing Corner

Create a breezy spot for reading your favorite books, listening to music from your iPod, or just passing some relaxing moments. Place a chair or an outdoor chaise in the corner of your bedroom. Add a couple of comfortable pillows and hanging paper lanterns. Now, settle in to your music system or a relaxing book.

Summer is the time to celebrate and enjoy. So, no matter whatever updates you bring into your bedroom, do not compromise the comfort and repose for anything else.
