Transform Your Small Bathroom into an Amazing Space

(A big “thank you” to our friends at fixitrightplumbing.com for sponsoring this post!)

If you have a small bathroom it may also feel cramped and uninspiring. If so, you’re not alone. Many homeowners have at least one bathroom that feels hopelessly small. But, with a little creativity, that tiny space may just become one of your favorite places in your home.

Consider New Hardware and Fixtures

New hardware and fixtures can make a huge difference in changing the atmosphere of a small bathroom.  Plumbers in Rye, VIC can help you figure out what’s possible—and what it will cost—when fixtures are modified or changed. In many cases these updates will be worth the effort and expense involved.

Create a Relaxing Atmosphere

In a small bathroom comfort is key. After all, you don’t want to worry about not relaxing. When considering bathroom decor it’s a good idea to opt for neutral tones. In your local paint store you can find an incredible variety of white, tan, and cream tones that will create a calming atmosphere while the light color will create the illusion of more space.

A Greek key tile pattern on the floor is a great way to add extra interest. Using an interesting flooring pattern will allow you to minimize the use of rugs—which can easily become tangled in doors making the bathroom feel cramped.

Make Use of Decorative Tile

A new backsplash is a relatively inexpensive way to spice up an otherwise boring bathroom. This can be as simple as adding a single row of decorative or contrasting tiles. This is an area where your bathroom’s size actually gives you an advantage: the smaller the space the less it will cost to upgrade.

Build Colorful Displays

Another way to make your bathroom inviting is through the use of a pretty palette. One way to do that is by taking advantage of the color scheme you already have in the room—then building on that. For instance, if you have a blue-green color scheme in the flooring, paint, and cabinets, you can add some coral to the mix through towels displayed on wall-hung storage items or rolled up and stored in a basket under a pedestal sink. This makes the room completely unexpected and lively at the same time.

Add Some Texture

Adding texture through small decorative elements can really make a small bathroom pop. Consider candles, essential oil diffusers, different types of towels, and small storage containers made from your favorite materials such as bamboo or stone. If you really want to add texture in a unique way consider adding 3D tiles as an accent. The idea is to use some color and texture in order to show off some architectural details. If you can also brighten the bathroom in the process, that’s even better.

Use Ledges

An accessible windowsill is a great place to display bubble bath, bath salts and various other bathroom necessities. Also consider adding open shelving that will provide attractive—and practical—storage options.
