How to Make a Harvest Wreath for your Thanksgiving Home
Bringing Thanksgiving into your Home
It is time to say goodbye to all the ghosts and goblins. Secretly, I am happy that Halloween is over because it means it is time to begin decorating for Thanksgiving and Christmas – my two favorite times to celebrate!
Once you have all your spooky gore packed away ‘till next year, your front entry is going to look a bit bland. So here are some great tips to decorate your homes entryway and welcome your Thanksgiving guests.
Add a unique wreath, or maybe three!
When it comes to wreaths we really need to think outside of the box, or maybe inside the box… as in the shape of a box, saying goodbye to a typical round wreath by placing a square wreath on your door instead. In fact, one wreath is just not enough impact. How about lining three square wreaths vertically down your door – now that makes a statement!
Add some sparkle.
There is nothing that says home for the holidays more than a lighted entryway. Since your potted mums are probably frost-bitten by now, transplant them into the ground and use the pots to create a unique lighted display. Keep the soil in the pots and anchor long cut twigs into the potted soil. Depending on the size of your pot, it may take quite a few twig branches to fill your pot. Then simply wrap strands of white lights around the twigs. This creates a beautiful night-time sparkle to your home, and it can be used all the way through the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. Another way to pull off this look is through fake twigs that are all pre-lit. These can be purchased at most home hardware stores and usually run on LED lights.
Add local elements to your doors decor.
Here is another great way to add unique flair to your front entry: use local elements. Do you live near the coast? Then try adorning your doors wreath with seashells and driftwood. Maybe you live in Florida? Try adding pineapples and oranges to your wreath, or create a unique potted arrangement of pineapples and oranges in your entryway pots. These local elements are extremely versatile and can practically be used year-round to create the ultimate curb appeal to your home.
Overall, be unique and have fun making your front entry say, ‘Welcome!’

[…] Stop, it’s succulent time. Maybe where you live, you just can’t bear to cover your table with fall leaves and pumpkins and that’s okay. Fill a box or trough with succulents that will make a lovely centerpiece as well as addition to your decor when dinner is over. (via Stagetecture) […]
