Home Decor: Welcome Guests with an Inviting Front Door

Entry #253, August 23, 2010

Your front door is the first thing your guests see when they walk up to your home.  Have you gone outside and looked at yours? Is the color eye catching, or is it drab and blah? Does the trim around the door accent the main door color? If you would like to boost the curb appeal of your home, try looking at the front entryway and door.  Consider repainting, changing out door hardware, or replacing you door entirely if you feel it’s time.

Here are some front doors to give you inspiration to make yours beautiful!

Make your guests feel welcome by having a beautiful front door!

How about adding a bold color to your front door?  If you don’t want to be too risque with the color on the entire exterior of your home, opt for a shot of color on the front door.

This eggplant color is beautiful with the surrounding brick

Wreaths and planters full of flowers are welcoming and compliment a colorful door nicely.

door_colors_yellow

A yellow front door makes you want to visit!

Don’t underestimate the color black, this classy color painted with high gloss paint is a welcome addition to any front entry.

A black front door doesn’t have to be dull and drab

LOVE, LOVE the eggplant door! Would have never thought to choose that color. I’ve always had a colored front door- from fire engine red to an ocean blue color.

    Great tips and inspiration!

Picking house paint colors isn’t just difficult. It’s terrifying! Pick colors that are blah, and your house will seem flat and featureless. But if the colors you pick are too bold, they might overwhelm the architecture, and upset the neighbors. The best colors will highlight the most beautiful features of your home. Skillful use of color can even disguise design flaws, boosting the curb appeal and market value of your home.

I love the yellow door and green house with white trim. Do you have any idea what those colors are?

How about a new house sign? I bought a lovely smooth slate one and it makes my front door look as good as new!
