Barbecue Sauce Recipe Ingredients

1 onion, minced

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 can tomato paste

1 small can crushed tomatoes

¼ cup date paste

½ cup unsweetened applesauce

¼ cup balsamic vinegar

¼ cup white wine vinegar

3 tablespoon organic mustard

Juice of 1 lime

2 tablespoon coconut aminos

1 tablespoon fish sauce

2-3 tablespoon grated fresh ginger

¼ teaspoon ground cloves

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

3-4 dried chipotle peppers, chopped

1 cup water

¼ teaspoon natural liquid smoke

BBQ Sauce Recipe Directions

  1. Add all the ingredients to your food processor or blender and process until completely reduced to a fine, liquid puree.
  2. Transfer it to a medium saucepan and bring to boil. Reduce the heat, and partly cover. Simmer for 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is nice and thick, and dark in color.
  3. Turn off the heat and let the sauce come down to room temperature.
  4. Transfer it to an air tight container and refrigerate.

Take Your BBQ Ribs to the Next Level

No matter how you cook the ribs, you want a great bbq sauce to cover them with. And if like us, you prefer it fairly hot and spicy, this glaze is for you. Simply putting a dab of it on the barbecued ribs will make it taste so much better in most instances. But just in case, you prefer it to be on the milder side, reduce the number of chipotle peppers.

We love this BBQ sauce recipe for ribs from BBC Good Food.
